Why? I don't see much difference between this and hooking up with a stranger on the street, bar, etc. for a one night stand (knowing nothing about the other person). Lot's of people are ok with it, plus he's handsome. And it was near his house as he explained and it was bothering him.

Difference is context. Often in the "take homeless stranger home", the person taking them home is doing it as an act of kindness. They aren't expecting sex, and are often the ones who are assaulted. This trope usually is used to insert rape/dubcon into the plot.
The hooking up with a stranger is different, because both people are approaching the situation with the same expectations.
And I mean he hired the guy who assaulted him, without even checking his reliability of any sorts for the job. And THEN he doubts him all the time about sleeping with customers????
