Gaaah, his bluntness will get him in trouble! Even irl some people I know are like that. Some of them mean well but others are just plain buttholes. MC is saying things in a super straightforward way that may or may not be offending for some people.

No it should stay hurtful, the worst things a person can do is sugar coat things and try to give intentions in a facade type of way. It takes longer ofc you can put some extra explanations behind it but it's obviously tiring. I say this as a person who tries to give my input but people don't listen then they come back telling me the exact say issue I tell them to avoid. I don't even look at them I just say "k" and go back to my business. It should especially be more open minded if your working with teammates too they should be past the pleasantries
Being realistic is good, being harsh is not, they also need to trust him , have trust in themselves
He could point out what works and what’s good (he does the list, but never said it loud), and then tell what needs to be improved
They also need positive feedback to have a full evaluation, not just a list of problems which will sap their energy
