this is so sad because it's so clear that both of them are so in love with each other. It's just they never verbalised their own boundaries, so what ends up happening is that both of them make sacrifices FOR EACH OTHER that breach their boundary line, never talking about it or resolving it - thinking it's for the betterment of each other.

black haired mc wants flowers, wants anniversary to be celebrated, wants to eat together and this is clearly what matters to him and is his bottom line - yet he disrespects his own boundary by telling the other he no longer wants anniversay celebrated. Gold haired clearly cares but shows affection in different way, he often says nothing about his compromises and actions for the other - such as him not changing from animal shows for black haired, and stopping anniversary celebrations after being told so.

What results is the resentment overfilling the box and the lid completely bursting in the end. Not either's faults for emotion overload but totally their fault for not communicating. Neither are able to communicate the issue effectively because that is not the norm of their relationship. Instead, emotions come flushing out and the immediate result is to think that they should end the relationship. This happens to real life relationships too. It's important to note that their miscommunication does stem for care for one another which is why we root for them but COME ONNNNN
