Arlendo is dowagers biological son that she made the emperor and empress believe was theirs, in actuality they had a still born daughter dowager just swapped that child with hers so the he could be considered a direct heir to the throne rather than the emperors younger half brother

Arlendo's father is the current emperor's (Pistole) father whom Medea (Dowager) married. In short, Dowager Medea is Emperor Pistole's Step-Mom and Arlendo is actually Pistole's Step-Brother and not his son, They were probably switched with the real heir which we dont know if alive (Probably not)
(I dont know why they believe Arlendo is Pistole's son but this is as far as I understood. Correct me if I'm wrong. :))
P.S Arlendo is Queen Medea's son with Pistole's Dad (The former Emperor) :D
