Ok listen up.IT COSTS MONEY for the author to create the manhwa.Koogi pays real money,her money to create this.Therefore when she posts it on Lezhin,she earns some of the money by people reading it.I'm not saying that everyone should pay to read it but this is the way it works.Professional programs to create this kind of art are really expensive.Not to mention but to create really good art like Koogi does,you need to have a good device,you can't just do that on a random device.I honestly understand you,I had that problem before but now that I learned how expensive it is to create Killing Stalking and lots of other mahwas,I am willing to pay for the chapters.So please be a little more understanding and don't say that the author is greedy because she really isn't.

Releasing chapters through all that could take a toll on her health. It''s better she's on break than overworking herself.

The authors don't usually handle legal matters on their own, Lezhin has a paid legal team for that. The authors have more important things to do, like writing/drawing chapters to meet deadlines. Anyway, people have a right to stop illegal distribution of things that legally belong to them. There's a note at the top of every webtoon on Lezhin indicating they are protected by copyright laws. Removal of webtoons illegally distributed is one of many consequences for violating that. People who post "fan scans" should be aware of and ready to face the potential consequences for their actions.

Since when they care of copyright laws and why should fan scans be aware? Asia are too lazy and idle with it, plus, they should be grateful illegal sites like mangago and fan scans bring foreign readers to this comic. People have cared about copyright laws since copyright laws became a law. I assume the people who post "fan scans" can read and read the text at the top of the page, therefore they should be aware that consequences can come from their actions. It's a pretty clear warning. Publishers and authors have rights has defined by the law. Webtoons are online because they're webtoons. These feel like some obvious statements I'm making.

Creators are "sensitive" over copyright because it is their work and their livelihood that copyright protects. This is a JOB for manga artists. The money they make is their salary for the work they have created. They don't do this for the heck of it. The money they make is to pay for the same things everyone else works for: food, shelter, clothing. By reading their work without paying for it, you are stealing from them.

You compound that sin by COMPLAINING when the mangaka takes a break. This makes you not just a certified idiot, but an ungrateful bitch of a certified idiot. Congratulations.

Ok, so l'm not sure what your problem with the author having a life outside the world of work but...

I believe you are mistaken about something here, not everything is 'public to everyone' on the internet and a lot of visable stuff is still protected under copyright. You are thinking about 'in the public domain' which when it comes to the internet means what you can access with out having to 1. Sign up to or 2. Sign in to or 3. Be invited to via link etc... or 4.Offering a service (there are rules for this one)

Btw lezhin is a private site, which requires users to sign in to access the contents, so does not fall under the public domain, it is an online publishing service. Also websites fall under copyright jurisdiction of the country they are registered in. Some international companies can even be registered in multiple domains, so can hold copyright in multiple jurisdictions.

Fyi copyright is there to protect the creator of the work so that they can make enough to live on. The authors only get a very small amount from what the publishers charge. (So it's in the authors best interest to file copyright infringements as it's their lively hood) I wouldn't expect that you would have to work without getting paid. Besides online publishers have bots that troll though the internet search engines and tags to do this for them, so it might be the publisher who is coming down hard with the copyright (more likely the case).

The problems arise from the misuse of copyright by large corporations -this may be the view point you are coming from.

There's a bigger issue here and that is that the scanlation model for printed works is not suitable for some online publishing models. It still works (in a sense) for the ones that don't get an English translation for years after or never get one (sometimes scanlation disincentives the publisher to do an official translation).

But it does not work with the same day or short time release models. As for these models income is generated while the chapters are behind a paywall (usually have an embargo 6mths-1yr and then they go free, but log in still required, so not public domain).

If you wait long enough the chapters will be available at some point free on Lezhin as they appear to operate under some sort of embargo model.

You will just have to get used to the fact business runs on money.
