Alright I powered through all 8 chapters and yeah the art is serving but the story ain't.
First off the whole "oh I'm dreaming, I can do whatever" only kinda works when it's in thoughts only, I mean how many times did each of them say "I'm dreaming" and gee I wonder why the other person suddenly starts acting sketchy around me in real life?
Not connecting the obvious dots is driving me up a wall and is frankly just bad writing....speaking of bad writing, is it the translation or do most of the conversations make absolutely no sense.
Edit: Saw the comments on here and it's Paradise Scans, go figure.
First the friend suggests Mc and Brother go well together and then in a flashback he's called a pedophile, pick one?
Now onto the one thing I did enjoy, I like a twisted Top, not this one but generally a kind looking and gentle Top who turns out to be a bit messed up in the head.
It tickles that part of my brain that is also into masochistic Tops ya know.
I wonder why I even bothered reading this, probably because of the art and honestly I'll stick around either actually reading or skimming through for the art.
This is a masterpiece, I know there's only 13 chapters as of yet but I'm absolutely in love with the characters and the writing!
I can't begin to describe how much I adore them!
Both have secrets and trauma they deal with yet find comfort in each other.
The way Ilwoo was about to jump and end his life and Baekhee just being there and caring, not even knowing what he helped prevent with something he did so casually was beautiful.
The hurt expression on Ilwoo at times and how both talked about their life's at the playground was incredibly well written.
The whole vibe and story itself is absolutely phenomenal!
The foreshadowing in the narration is so insightful and makes me anxious for what's about to come.
The author handles these topics so well without leaning into being overly dramatic and unrealistic.
Even Gyeom who's obviously gonna be the bad guy, I like how he's written as someone who's not obsessed with Baekhee himself but with the idea of being relied on and in control.
I think he has a huge inferiority complex, maybe because of his parents and mainly his mom?
First time I'm excited to learn more about the "villain's" story too.
My only regret is discovering this too early.
Today I discovered a new favorite trope, yearning green flag Top!
I think Eunsan is in for a hell of a ride because there's the saying "(S)he fell first, he fell harder", I can't wait for the second season and for Eunsan to gradually fall depper for Ian.
I might actually prefer stories where the Top falls first ngl
+ I love these characters so much, the author does a phenomenal job at writing!
Okay I really need a moment to take a deep breath, this is so utterly sad and left me crying multiple times.
I wasn't expecting to find this, I usually real BL or Fantasy but this intrigued me for some reason.
This is a heavy story to tell and it breaks my heart to know that it's the authors life story.
From the described feelings to the open end, it's very much real which makes it even more heartbreaking.
Knowing and seeing that this inner turmoil and trauma will never truly be fixed and the author recognizing that it only takes one step for everything to go downhill again, leaves a bitter taste.
There are parts of this that I can relate to and others I can't.
The dialogue between Aiko when she tried to get help and that guy, did something to me, it made me realize how these traps we keep running into are made.
It takes only one person to break down another person, all that talk about wanting to feel special, searching for a helping hand, showing vulnerability only to be met with disdain and ridicule.
Thinking you have to be fine, not bother people with your problems and essentially shutting yourself off from the world is precisely what creates this cycle of self hatred and suffering.
I'm so sad that this happened to the author and that they met such a person....
Words can't describe the impression this left on me.
This isn't some tragic masterpiece or a good read for in between, it's just reality and it makes me sad.
If anyone feels as strongly about this as I do and can relate to some parts, even if it doesnt get better, you aren't alone and never will be.
This is the best notification on here that I could've received!! I read the novel and I absolutely can't wait to see everything drawn! I love this story and the characters so much!
I really love this! Although I was sad that we didn't see his pregnancy through and didn't even get a panel of their baby! Missed opportunity imo
But I can only give this a 4/5 since the bit about turning him from a Beta to an Omega just gives me the creeps, didn't need that since otherwise the Alpha was such a green flag!
I love their bickering!! They're both to die for!!
Ahhh next chapter will bring the HEAT!
Also just for my own sanity, authors pls stop teasing a switch couple and not following through, got me excited for a moment ngl
I've just looked through my manga and noticed I indeed own the first 2 volumes in Japanese, bought years ago because I loved the art style and now I find this page on here, finally I'll understand what I've been looking at!!
Honestly gotta appreciate when an author depicts incest but at least mentions it's abnormal and not make them the end couple.
Something I've seen happening before unfortunately...
Him still being in his nephews life? Abhorrent.
I'm a sucker for these types of stories!!
I love everything about this and I nearly chocked when he mentioned the customer appreciation event!
+ I love Bottoms that are obsessed with the Top and awkwardly shy about it like we saw in Red Mansion or 2020.
Literally praying this isn't a short story because it kinda gives off that vibe.
"You're so oblivious even though I'm raping you with my eyes. So precious"
Alright now is the time to take my eye sight if any sort of God is still among us.
The art ain't even bad but the writing is atrocious, we got a creepy Mc who looks like he preys on minors (they're adults as far as I saw but he still gives off groomer vibes I'm sorry) and a Top who has has as much depth and personality as a blank sheet of paper.
Honestly I MISS when they focuse on kissing in the beginning!
Not that I don't like when they jump straight to it but I miss seeing intense kissing and foreplay before they get more intimate.
Honestly I dropped this when they had had the excessive cave sex, the art is so good tho and the premise itself ain't bad, I really wanna continue reading this, uncover the mystery and enjoy the occasional (!) sex scene.
From what I'm seeing this didn't get any better tho, like 80% sex and 20% story.
So I just read the final chapter and I'm beyond angry, frustrated and sad how the author ruined a good Manhwa.
I still have a soft spot for this series (I mean it's my profile picture after all) but the entire setup for season 2 which could've been so much deeper, thrilling and interesting was just thrown out the window for some sex scenes and teasing that led nowhere!
Questions left unasked, a social phobia mostly cured off screen like what was the point even? and what about the pink haired dude? Why even have him in the story? He did nothing, like seriously nothing but propose that drug deal to Mc and tease.
There was huge potential for this like the background of perm hair, why he disappeared and what happened in that year but instead of talking, we get another short sex scene.
He came back after ghosting Mc for a year, tells him his "real" name and he's like "yeah that checks out"? Wtf?
I didn't need drama or anything big but a talk would've been nice, the ending felt so rushed.
This was supposed to be a short story and I think it should've stayed that way, I don't think the author planned ahead writing this and just went with it after being green lit for a second season. That's why nothing feels like it connects or builts upon something.
The first season was so good!! And besides the rape, it was really interesting to see their relationship develop.
The premise is interesting but I wish we got more volumes to explore this concept and the characters better.
It's somewhere in the middle for me, there were parts that piqued my interest and others that I didn't like.
For instance I don't like when the Mc gets with their rapist in the end, he calls it "rape" even after 5 years yet he's afraid of being abandoned.
It's an interesting setup but it makes me hope for an ending where they're not together.
I do like that they didn't show much of their intimacy except for that one panel tho.
In these stories of sexual abuse, I'd like to see "tell, don't show".
Overall it could've been better with more time and better character development.
The art isn't bad and the story itself could have potential, I didn't like the execution tho even for a oneshot.
I need more consent, the trope itself ain't too bad but I didn't like the bully Top at all.
I love this! Genuinely interesting story, didn't like the beginning tho and as many have pointed out, the translation in the beginning is a bit confusing.
Other than that I enjoy their dynamic after he got amnesia. I'm a sucker for angst so this is right up my alley! There's also a lot of mystery and I hope we get to see more of those "real mutts".
So glad I found another good Guideverse!
