Lol... I think it's pretty rare if the author doesn't continue a series. Because they are bound by contract. Unless it doesn't get enough popularity. I guess we are hoping to get more of course.
Yeah it's so frustrating when authors drop them them out of nowhere...I have quite a few numbers whose update I have been waiting for more than a year lol
For me I have a few good manga that was release once for 3-4 months. Sometimes more. Japanese manga took so long to update because usually they're a monthly magazine. That's why I prefer reading korean or chinese webtoon. At least they are updating weekly. And I prefer they are serialized in Lezhin, Wecomics or other legal publisher. Because there are so many "angels" who bought the chapter and willing to share it in here. Lol...
Sometimes scanlation will drop a webtoon out of nowhere due to their lack of staff or when they got noticed by the author. So I feel uneasy if the webtoon isn't licensed.
I prefer Chinese and Korean webtoon too lol...cause I need to have colorful art and space between the panels ( like a freaking color book ) the Japanese ones hmmmm...
Yeah that's why I also prefer reading completed works so i am not left hanging

Idk for some chapters in the beginning I wanted to believe that our secretary is/would/should be the top I mean judging by the looks
