As someone that reads both, you can see a clear double standart. Mls in yaois are way more toxic, abusive and they still end up with a happy ending. Yes people complain but not as much. this pretty recently went from a free version (aka trial period) to a paid version of the manga which is usually a good sign (the paid version is marked as ongoing on the JP site)
plus I'd also like to point out this was originally part of a Novel adapt Anthology to promote a few authors novels so it originally a short manga to begin.
