i read the novel. a lot of it was told from the mushroom's perspective. not much from the ml. so we dont get much on the process of how he fell in love with mc.
personally, i think ml loves the mushroom because of his personality. like how he acts so innocent (like yk, because he's not human) and still learning about being human. that's just endearing, so ml wants to protect him and tease him about it.
i doubt the original owner would have the same personality as the mushroom. however, i think it could work. but their dynamic would be so different...
No doubt if An Ze behaved like An Zhe then Lu Feng would have liked him. But it's not just about liking a face or body. Lu Feng likes the lil aspects of his relationship with An Zhe. He has a dynamic where he freely teases An Zhe a lot because he's so innocent. An Zhe is wary of him sometimes because Lu Feng very much likes mushroom soup LoL

Lu Feng likes Lil Mushroom because Mushroom understands Lu Feng and even calls him a good person later on. He also wonders many times how lil Mushroom can forgive him so easily and trust him so innocently. Basically Mushroom's empathy for Lu Feng + his innocence and nativity is what makes him like him so much. (≧▽≦)
I've seen some top who likes to talk like that the whole series and most of the time it has always irked me but this guy doesnt. I wonder why.
