You can't expect an abused peasant with no education of the world to be a smart girlboss. She doesn't have an education like y'all, she was raised in a village under a cruel man who sold her to a cruel noble girl. Women stuck in abusive places will gravitate naturally towards people who are nicer to them in that shitty environment and naively trust them
Y'all want authentic characters with depth but the moment she isn't a girlboss y'all complain about her being stupid

i swear to god the moment y'all see one moody, dark haired guy you switch up so fast. the last few chapters they haven't been interacting as much and everyone is immediately like "they have no chemistry" when they were literally doing so much cute shit before. same people to complain if the "sunshine and clearly better second ml" isn't chosen

I'm glad people are not willing to forgive cárcel for sleeping around (indirectly cheating on his to be wife) but y'all are targetting the wrong man.
it would be wrong if he had continued to do this, or if he hadn't apologised or felt bad for his past actions. he literally actually not only apologises, but also completely flips his behaviour around and is fully committed and only has eyes for Ines.
not to forget INES WANTED HIM TO CHEAT. she manipulated the man into making him want to cheat by seeming like a cold, emotionless wife who will not respond to his urges or make him feel fulfilled in her life.
even Ines has come so far. from wanting to divorce Cárcel to genuinely wanting a kid with him. like??? if you aren't gonna get the depth of the story don't go harping on about the characters you don't understand the complexity of.
media literacy is dead jesus

I will always defend Carcel’s right to live as he saw fit. The only time I would condemn him sleeping with another person is if he was married. For me the childhood engagement is a promise between the families. Marriage is a promise the couple makes before God as adults as Carcel points out to Ines in the early chapters of the novel.
Also, Carcel didn’t even get any benefit from the engagement period. Oscar at least had a period of courtship where Ines and ahim did many things together and went many places together. Carcel got absolutely nothing. Also….spoiler
In the hidden timeline, Ines and Carcel courted for 10 years. They visited each other’s homes and went to banquets together and danced together and spent time together. Carcel used to even ask his father advice as a little boy on how to win his father-in-law over. His father gave him good advice.

EXACTLY. People are like cheating this cheating that. At that time they didnt even have a mutual relationship i dont even consider that cheating. Since Ines also wanted this, ok with this. I just hate how people coming after him bcz of this "cheating" thing. After marriage he stayed loyal to the end he is one of the biggest simp for his wife.

for those who are confused:
he basically says, in the first part of the chapter that he got close to Courtney (got in her good graces) and made her open her boundaries bit by bit until she was comfortable enough to bite the bait (embrace her dominant nature for the first time)
it doesn't have to imply that he's manipulating her but he's not exactly innocent either. but because he's drawn in such a way that people are assuming he's that was ig
FINALLY LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOO
