some people lack serious media literacy like how did yall go through 10 episodes of Heiner's absolutely traumatic backstory and fucked up mind as a result of Annettes father and still not understand why he is the way he is. for once, a male lead actually has substance and is well written, properly haunted by his trauma unlike the typical fantasy manhua where ML trauma is written in one chapter and tossed to the side
it’s horrible what happened to heiner but let me just say, typical man to take out his anger on a defenseless woman. his resentment was misplaced. he killed the man who made his life hell, revolted, and became a well respected man. he is angry at annette because he loves her, while also being angry that she’s privileged and shielded from the bad parts of the word but annette never asked for either of those things. also he wasn’t even satisfied when he took everything from her and made her suffer, he had to make sure that they both spent the rest of their lives suffering together. Heiner deserves to be happy, but if the only way he can achieve happiness is if he makes annette suffer then he doesn’t deserve it. i’m glad they’re both learning from their mistakes now

Why? Just because people "understood" how the Joker's past made him crazy, doesn't mean you should expect people not to hate him anymore.
They refuse to see that side since we saw Anette’s suffering first. Anette’s sin was ignorance of the things her Father did. Not her fault of course nor could she do anything about it possibly but she was simply placed in a circumstance where she is a part of it. She is innocent, but she is bound by the blood her father built from so many people’s death and sufferings. A lot of innocent people including Heiner (at the time) also did not deserve what anette’s father did. Those families that grieved may understand she had no part of it but as the daughter of the sinner, you cannot blame them for hating her for she is a reminder of the cruelty and what they’d lost. It’s not right but its just the way life is.
Heiner is guilty but I cannot fully blame him either. Despite his sins towards Anette, he also suffered a great deal in which no human also deserves. Clearly, he was beyond cruel and evil to anette but he was also a savior to the people that needed it, saved children and families, freed the people under the corruption of anette’s father. That does not come to say he should be forgiven for what he did to Anette. I do not love or like Heiner, I’m just saying I respect that side of him stading for the people esp in war despite being mentally broken (from trauma and the confusion of loving the daughter’s enemy).
This story is not about a wholesome romance or sole revenge. It’s a story how certain circumstances can change a person’s mind, decisions, and life. Especially between two people that wanted to love each other. So many people disagree with it but I simply adore this story for its uniqueness and how it evokes emotions like none other. I appreciate reads like these that does not come like your typical dramatic love story. I’ve finished reading the novel and I’m still excited to read the drawn chapters.

This story isn't black and white where one character is bad, another is good. They are in an actual war setting in an era where things are wholly different, everyone has their own circumstances. Unlike other stressful stories, this one doesnt piss me off that it makes me wanna tear my hair out for some reason but maybe its cuz everyone in it has flaws, everyone has faults. Everyone has been a victim of the war.
Im no Heiner apologist nor do I hate him, but understanding =/= forgiving. I understand things hes been through but I also get why people hate him. I personally just want them all be happy by the end of it all, whether theres romance or not (Im not a novel reader so idk whats about to happen-) I dont really care as long as both sides are healed/healing in the end
