This is one of the few historical isekai rofan manhwas that brings up a lot of realistic aspects of what it's like to live in that era. Slavery, war and conquest, even the persistent patriarchy and misogyny masked within that "you don't need to do anything, just be a good wife". Allen is still a flawed husband and father, I get it since it's passed down from his terrible dad, and it was a norm in that kingdom, like I'm not even mad because it makes sense with the setting of the story. Like the "just abort the twins if it means it'll harm my wife", it's clear with that mentality he'd repeat his dad's sin and neglect and possibly blame his twins if Chloe ended up dying. He doesn't respect his wife's wishes and boundaries, he underestimates her intelligence. Like he's such a red flag, but what I like is that Chloe as time passes on she becomes more confident and stands her ground. So I hope she'll dominate more in their marriage and reform the entire kingdom with her influence. Show off your power, gurl (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

I think the debt is only in his name which is why they divorced, it was to keep the debt off of her, but she stayed because she was faithful to him. He promises to remarry her and she was holding out for that hope.
The debt is on her name. He kept gaslighting and promising to remarry her if she cleared off his debt. Now why she kept staying with him, I'm sure people who've been in a toxic abusive relationship can vouch for her how hard it is to leave a toxic partner.

Mb, it’s been awhile since I read and I don’t get why they’re divorced if that’s the case. I coulda sworn the divorce was for a specific reason that made sense to mc, something having to do with the debt in some way. I don’t think she would’ve agreed to divorce unless there was some good reason.
I think the divorce was so he wouldn't be liable for the loan on her name. He's using her after all, so he doesn't care that she's stuck with it. He has no intention of being with her, just using her a placeholder for someone else. Just an awful SOB!
