The longer I read this, the more convinced I become that Bum could actually be attractive, if he just gained some weight.
Sangwoo needs to start fattening the kid up.
If Bum looked healthier, they'd also attract less attention.
As it stands, he looks abused because he's underweight and wrapped in bandages.

I wonder when he is going to have the neck bandages removed, and I hope it doesn't end up just becoming his "trademark". If his broken? legs have healed by now, then surely his flesh wound to his face would be on the mend by this point too.
Also, the fact that Bum is more physically weak, self harm scars, underweight, shorter etc seems to be influencing commentators opinion that he has no autonomy, is a "victim" etc whereas someone like Sangwoo who doesn't have muscle wastage and is taller, more nourished etc doesn't appear as such an obvious victim of neglect. Which is a bit odd, as neglect and abuse can be emotional, and just as damaging.

True, but the fact that Bum is physically weaker does leave him at a disadvantage.
His uncle abused him because as a child he was too weak to fight back.
Now, Sangwoo does the same thing.
So maybe he wants to keep Bum weak.
But you're right. Even though Bum may be slow to heal because he is stressed and underweight, at some point in time, he needs to lose the bandages.

I keep trying to imagine what a happy ending for this story would be.
Or any kind of ending really.
But I cannot even imagine what the future might hold for these two.

Maybe a double suicide? At this point I don't know what the ending could be either, which is refreshing as most manga plots are quite predictable. At the end of the day both have committed crimes that would mean a custodial sentence at a prison or more likely, they would be forced to stay at a psychiatric hospital for violent offenders.
Crimes we know of so far
(Bum)
- Broke into Sang woo's house
- Murdered a woman by stabbing her at least 20 times
- Murdered that man by stabbing him
- Moved the body, hid the body
- Lied to the police
(Sang woo)
- Murdered the woman who was the CEO's daughter
- Arranged the murder of the two people Bum killed
- Kept Bum captive for a few weeks, grievous bodily harm
- Moved the bodies, hid the bodies
- Lied to the police.

Behaviour such as lying can be a sympton of abuse, which we know Sangwoo was already a victim of. Also Sangwoo has nightmares just like Bum, why does one attract sympathy but not the other? It seems that both characters have Borderline Personality Disorder, which was the diagnosis mentioned at the start of the series, and the series is a portrayal of how this is manifested for the two men.

I could almost see Bum killing Sangwoo in a moment where he truly believed ending his life would spare Sangwoo a great deal of suffering or if Sangwoo asked him to.
Even then, if Bum did kill Sangwoo, I believe he'd feel compelled to kill himself right after because you are right about their codependency.
So maybe a murder suicide?
Still, I can't truly sense what's going to happen next.
Although, I am guessing that the detective is going to pop back up at some point in time.
Having burned all his bridges, the detective is probably so close to losing his own mind that he's going to do something truly insane.

That'a quite feasible, especially if Sangwoo ever does manage to confess to Bum about the extent of his childhood abuse, given that Sangwo has a more "it is what it is" apathetic attitude, whereas Bum is more reactive and physically self harms. I think the detective might have been sacked after he beat up Sang woo? The detective is already a "stalker" but I don't want him to be a killer, as it seems a more fitting end if Sangwoo and Bum take their own lives, Bum "mercy" kills Sangwoo and then kills himself. I guess it's going to end in a tragedy anyway.
