I think it's the younger brother's dreams. what I know from reading comments and the story, the red backlight or background means it's a dream and normal lighting is real. The younger brother craves his brother's attention ( in a sexually way) and the older brother yearns for their parents attention and love. To recieve the said attention and love he looked after this younger brother who has insomnia ( he doesn't know it's because of him).
