The narcissistic mother, narcissistic father, narcissistic golden boy and... *drum roll*... the black sheep. And in the story, the partner unfortunately also is a golden boy. It's a secret dream for lots of victims to see their narcissistic family change and love or at least accept them. But in real life that basically never happens. Whether it's a partner or a family member - narcissistic personality disorders are very difficult to treat, because narcissists cannot see any fault within themselves and close to never seek help. It's better to leave a narcissist behind, for self protection. If somebody is able to change, they weren't really a narcissist to begin with. A sad reality.
Nobody has the right to abuse someone else to fix their own insecurities!!ヽ(`Д´)ノ You can talk about it, try to work on it together, support each other. But nobody can not use "love" and insecurities as an excuse to abuse somebody into submission. That guy needs his ass kicked, like yesterday!! (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

For crying out loud, get your head out of your ass, stop the constant bullying and guilt tripping and acknowledge, that you have feelings for the guy!!
I'm kind of convinced by now, that the author must have a history of narcissistic partners. And I bet, she unsuccessfully tried to change them.
