Did we all forget the flashbacks of him saying he loves his mom and she’s calling him a liar? And the way he refuse to talk about the first time he went back in time and his mom you can put 2+2 together. And then you expect him to just say “I love you”? I think that word holds some deep rooted trauma for him and ofc he should communicate that with her but I don’t think he’s ever communicated his trauma to another person in his life so ofc it’s hard to do it for the first time
