Sorry this is gonna be long: So in Omegaverse everyone has two sexes: the first is obviously whether they are either a male or female (this is yaoi so we only care about the male part), the second is the omega, beta, alpha sex. Beta's are the majority of the population and I guess you can think of them as being normal or neutral. I prefer to think of it as that they don't have any other specific traits manifesting like you see in the Omegas and Alphas. Omegas and Alphas are the rarest. Omegas are classified by their ability to have children regardless if their primary sex (male/female) allowed it. This is because they develop the necessary organs for the job (saw that in another manga and again focusing on the male half). During their heat periods they emit a strong pheromone that attracts others to mate with them and they can get pregnant. In most omegaverses the Omegas are physically weaker that others and for some reason do not do as well academically (or it doesn't come as easy). The Alphas are very charismatic and strong. They generally do well in any situation they are placed in and people tend to gather around them (possibly another thing involving pheromones). They also have a heat but it is initiated by the scent of an Omegas scent when in heat. The Alpha and Omega both lose all sense of reason when in heat which is why it's probably often written with rape scenes. An Alpha can only mark an Omega when the Omega is in heat. That is why the first time the main character was bit it didn't result in a pairing. If an Omega is paired with an Alpha their pheromones don't affect anyone else anymore and the Omega can only have sex with their Alpha. Otherwise they will feel sick/reject the other partner. If an Alpha impregnates an Omega then the child will be either an Omega or Alpha but if a Beta impregnates an Omega then I think that the child can only be a Beta (not sure on that).
