Interesting story concept that the novel is based off this world

I knew it'll end up like this but dang it still hurts reading that. I do agree with ML as he had been saying it for ages already that he DOESNT want gifts but the Dan still insisted on it pushing himself to buy a gift but I see his insecurity. Dan could've just made a nicer meal than usual and all but ya know it is bound to happen in the story.
