Mangago won't even accept the chapters, I'm pretty sure. A few days ago - this is before all the lezhin content was being taken down - I sent ch. 46 of Save Me and they said they won't accept lezhin english manhwa

How many japanese webtoons do you actually find? Lezhin comics only have lezhin writers, they don't have their own books, they don't sell them publicly. Japanese mangas have editors, fans that follow and buy their books. Lezhin comic artists only has Lezhin comics. They don't have a base in Korea where people can buy their products or sell their books. And for what their selling per chapter, it's very cheap. I support and buy all the comics from Lezhin because these are people who take their time to sell for very cheap. Especially when they take the time to translate it as well, something the japanese mangas don't even have unless it's really popular. I've been following this book every week.

You can't compare that to Japanese mangas and you can't say Japanese webtoons when there are so little here. It's not fair. I don't mind if you want to read it here. I do that too when I'm short on cash. But when I get cash again I will buy the chapters even if I've already read them. It's nice to help the 'small' people who probably don't do this as a living yet still get paid so little for what they do. Most are in colour too.

Shouldn't you appreciate there buy paying? It's literally very cheap. Instead of complaining about the drama, maybe you should think a little bit harder why are people complaining about it.

Btw people do complain about japanese manga when it's uploaded without permission from the scanlators or when it's been licensed. So your point is kind of moot.

I also sometimes read here because the scanlators translate the korean comics faster than the english site so I can get fast updates. But I still buy every chapter. If you don't pay for anything, not for japanese manga, not for Lezhin, not even donate to the scanlators for their hard work(or even simply thanking them, I do both btw). I really think you shouldn't be complaining about anything.

believe it or not I do buy multiple comics from lezhin despite having free chapters here because I know supporting the author is important, but I'm not rich enough to buy everything and my point isn't even abt buying the comics? my point is that every single thing on this site is illegal so i don't understand why only lezhin ppl come and start shit abt the comics being ripped off the site or translated by friendly souls, like other korean webtoons are posted here from places like comico/a and webtoon and so many other places and nobody gives 2 shits?? there's double standards and not that I'm complaining that there's no drama bc that's gr8 but like even if this person didn't post it heck maybe I would've if I bought the chaps or someone else might've so calm yo tits this site isn't gonna just shut down bc you whine abt ppl not supporting lezhin on an illegal freaking site filled with illegal ass comics

Isn't that simply because Lezhin is well-known and trustworthy. Who would want to complain about webtoons from other places when it's not as well-known? Even your point doesn't really fit because I've been in this site daily, most webtoon comics are from Lezhin. And once again, webtoon comics from other places are so little. Unless you can direct me to the multitudes that are recent then I don't think yours is a fair description. Meaning you are just nitpicking from the past.

People are more vocal now and more appreciative of artists and mangas now. Especially when supporting sites like Lezhin whose comics they produce are VERY popular that they gain such popularity in such a short time. People don't want to lose sites like these.

And yes, they can lose sites like this if people like you(I can't say I believe at all that you buy any chapters from Lezhin) would read them here then there. Not rich enough not to buy anything is not an excuse If you're not supporting anybody or anyone, you have no right to talk about the drama as though you're above it. Now you're just instigating it as well. Of course those people would be angry if it's posted here when they paid money for the site. If it closes down when I am paying weekly for an update for several mangas and then having the site closed before it ends. I'll be fucking pissed.

And like I said again, Lezhin has it for super cheap. When you compare it to the multitude of Japanese mangas here, not webtoon from other sites which are so little I don't even see any in the past few months, I know all the mangas from webtoons are only from Lezhin because I check it weekly and even daily since I follow a few mangas. ALL WEBTOON MANGAS IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS ARE FROM LEZHIN. Lezhin artists would not get the same cash as Jap manga so of course people would be more indignant about it. Do you know the size of Jap manga market for BL? Do you know those artists can even have fanmeets, merch, BL CDs? And Lezhin seriously only has the site?

The thing with most manga is that it's not licensed in english-speaking countries, so even if you wanted to buy it legally you'd have to import it from country of origin (Japan, Korea, China) and even then it would be in a language you don't understand. This is why once official english version is published, some companies claim copyright and take down online free scanlations (which is kinda shitty from the perspective of non-US english speakers, but I guess nobody cares about us).

Lezhin tho is kinda a different story, because they're one of the few webcomic publishers who actually do run official english version of the site. That being said, iirc, some series are korean exclusive, so unless someone translates those we're not reading it anytime soon.

But some comics reposted here are actually just downloads of official english releases and I suppose this is what gets other people so mad - because they feel that the "why pay for it if I got it here free" mentality is actually hurting the artist/publisher.

They do however tend to not mention that actually giving exposure makes people more interested in the series and while they might not buy the comic they've just read, they might just check out official site and buy ANOTHER comic of theirs. This is exactly what happened with me, and for polish standards Lezhin prices are crazy - what gets me around 33 chapters is basically what I would pay for really nice hard-cover edition of a pretty thick book which would give me more entertainment hours (and a dozen of other things).

Releases here also aren't the most stable in the world. From popular series, King's Maker comes to mind - a lot of people bought chapters (myself included) and they only got released here days after. To be honest, because after the 2 introductory chapters it seemed mediocre at best (and it's a pretty cool comic once the story gets rolling) I'd never ever consider paying for it in the first place if it wasn't for that.

Point being, if you want the *legal* premium comic reading experience, you should be buying chapters legally anyways. If you want to support the artist, you should be buying chapters legally anyways.
And as OP said, why come and cause drama here if you're buying legally anyways. Are you upset that others are not making the same choices or is it because you feel like you're wasting money (you're not. You're supporting something you believe in, which means you're paying for an experience of being the 'good guy').

But, you might say, just because you're not willing to pay doesn't mean you're entitled to anything. And yes, you'd be absolutely right. This is why I don't give two craps whether or not Lezhin's content is reposted here. If they threaten Mangago to oblivion and all of their webcomics will be purged, I won't cry. There's other content to enjoy.

Also a bit off-topic, but Lezhin's marketing is kinda... meh as a consumer. If you like binge-reading you're going to spending lots blindly, because unless there's a promo going on, you get prologue + 2 introductory chapters for free and for rest you need to pay 3 coins each (with some expectations). For series that have been ongoing for a while, that's a lot of trust investment, because some comics might have great beginnings and not so great everything else (looking at you Out of Control/Hate Mate). Lezhin obviously wants you to buy in bulk as opposed to chapter-by-chapter, but it's not pretty once you realize you've dropped a lot of coins on something that's more agitating than entertaining and buying simple chapters can get annoying. Pick your poison, oh thy consumer. Also, for some reason, they have no commenting whatsoever which I think is a big part of reading manga (I mean Mangago is great mostly due to BL community they have). It's nice to have 'illegal' versions as a trial option (assuming you're paying anyways). And yes, I know there's a lot of promotions (mostly to keep you visiting them often), but once you get hooked on like 5 series it can get pretty costly to keep them updated and recent chapters/popular series don't really get that much discounts (duh).

So here's a protip, just ignore the drama. Also don't be stupid and post your contact data that might get you in trouble if you're releasing anything. Wall of text anon2 signing out :)
