I think is just a misunderstanding, the red hair told his sister he was just a friend, so the black hair didn't say anything to him when they meet because the red hair was with his sister again, so he thought it was better to not greet him
About the woman he meet, probably someone that will be explained later (sister, cousin, a friend, whatever)
