.in terms of people defending an abusive character, I’ve seen it even in heterosexual comics. Because the artist draws them all prettily and the author gaslights the audience into thinking they are not that bad by literally employing techniques used by abusers. Act like utter shit and then switching up like how here Joo rapes Dan and then lets him stay in his house. Making naive readers think, ooh! He’s evolving! Authors irl gotta have an extremely backwards way of thinking fr. I also agree it might be a fetish. They literally endorse horrible messages with their art. They are out there thinking this shit up! And I see no evidence, atleast in this comic that Joo is supposed to be a terrible, unforgivable person, just a really “bad boy tm”. I’m also concerned that since this is a free website, and so much minors know and have access to this site and read the comics they do, and use their underdeveloped way of thinking to connect the pieces together to arrive at terrible conclusions using simple rules like, he said he’d have sex for the money so it’s not rape! This is right 100%. I remember as a pre teen I was so invested in these type of relationships like overprotective,abusive and toxic. I really thought it was like a fairy tale. This really affected me since I literally had crushed on my bullies LMAO. It's so fucked up authors romanticise this shit and when we call them out we get shit instead. Like I know some stories like this but the difference is that the Author KNOWS it's fucked up and doesn't romanticise it. This is similar to painter of the night.
