It's actually worse. ML had feelings for the girl and the brother KNEW that. He went after her ON PURPOSE. After ML cuts off contact entirely, his brother had to tell their mother what he did to ML. Their mother was hella pissed at him and told him he wronged his brother and that he needed to fix it. So yeah, in the beginning, rather than trying to apologize for what he did out of guilt, he mostly did it because the mother intervened. But he later told his wife honestly what happened and understood he needed to make it up to his brother.
