The curse makes him go insane for love he can't have, just like his mother. It's like an obsession that you know you have no end to and will gain nothing from. He gets sick of he doesn't follow his fate of loving that person in his dreams, and even when he does find her, his love can't be reciprocated because of that said curse. But I wonder if it's different for the FL because she herself is cursed too.
