The ending is really funny for me, tbh. Though I'd like it much better if he stayed as a boy, it was implied that they will be working on a new antidote. Plus, the author most likely ended it like this for some comedic effect since that's how most Japanese mangas end. I don't think the author is homophobic, the end just show how much the dude loves Shion and how cute they are as a couple
