2) she might have been checking whether or not she caught the princes attention, maybe she wants to make him fall in love using her light magic

reading these novels/mangas have opened my eyes to the twistedness of the otome game and the role of the female lead/heroine aka the "player". If you think about it, the player is trying to charm her way into the hearts of multiple men and ultimately go full out pursuit on the one the player wants the most, trying to manipulate things in her favor.
Luv that she's so into the story that was read to her as a child that she will do anything to make it true - u go girl... LOL! just worry about the "prince" he is kinda angry with her for attacking the boat he was on and he's sure she's the one that capsized it - the fact that she saved him doesn't seem to compute, so hope this keep being up-beat and not turn morbid or depressing because of him.
And the translators side comments r hilarious and i for one love them, can't wait for more ╮(￣▽￣)╭
