Its the art. During the time of Solo Leveling, there were a lot of manwhas with similar genre that has mediocre art. Also the fact that there is an actual plot and you can see the ending. Before Solo Leveling, manwhas with similar genre kinda just go on and on, its all about getting stronger and repeatitive content. Theres actually no visible end and you can tell the story isnt really planned well. After Solo Leveling though, manwhas became better and Solo Leveling storyline is kinda mediocre now. But people still put it on a pedestal cause it was the first progression manwha thats was actually good. Now theres a lot of manwha with better plot and polished artstyle so i get why people might consider it mid now.
