I haven't been on here all that long, just a little before the comments section shut down and I've mostly been a lurker. I seriously have no clue how y'all did it, but even in the depths of my cynical, shriveled up heart, I can't help but feel like people are a lot better - more understanding, empathetic and less likely to look away from BS than ev...... 2 reply
oil in pan
make sure the pan is blazing hot.
one/two eggs based on how big the kids are
a tiiiny amount of water or milk (like, 1/4 tsp or so)
pinch of salt
pepper pepper pepper
whip the shit out of it
pour whipped bubbly mix onto pan, swirl, fold with two spatulas if needed. Do this quickly because the egg cooks in practically seconds.

Are there any differences between the way the girl replacing you does the actions and the way you were doing them? Your group mates may not have the ability to articulate what they want you to do so they may be expecting you to just 'get it'. If they think the other girl is a better fit, maybe you can have her help you get into your role better and...... reply
Used to have a lot of icks but honestly, as long as someone is willing to give it a shot, learn from constructive criticism (which is not the same thing as flaming), and grow, I think fanfics in general have a certain charm regardless of the quality of writing. It's a snapshot of different stages and phases of life in all its glorious cringe - what...... 2 reply
Thinking of how fandoms can fall out of fashion pretty much like clockwork and fail to capture the interests of new fans that didn't grow up with the original show/game/work.
Is there anything with some real staying power you've noticed? Like something your parents generation (or the older ones) likes that your peer group also likes enough to form a fandom around?
Food is cheating tho, but I'm allowing music as a category.
What do y'all think about stories where the author is writing a story about your culture/religion/country/etc when they also don't belong to it? Do you mostly look past it? Cringe? Do you like an outsider POV? Do you laugh at it? Is there anything that makes you love or hate a story from an author who is an outsider?
It's...sort of easy-ish for art, between the glossy finish/studio ghibli/salvador dali ripoffs (though that's not 100% accurate, right?)
For text, specifically for when you're dealing with bots... uh, idk, I heard there was a trick where ' - ' gets autocorrected a lot by ai in places where it shouldn't. Apart from that, if an account is new or particularly braindead or if their sense of humor is so bad it's painful... idek, any help? Starting to get paranoid most ppl online are bots
..well, maybe not here yet cuz not as many users here as the major social media sites, but idk.
Does anyone have a flowchart of what they look for to decide whether to read/not read something? Or drop something?
Here's some of my categories: Drop if: 1. There is any mention of a 'lazy lifestyle' or similar in the title 2. If there is any mention of the premise of the story mentioning the characters by role (i.e, protagonist, villain, side character) unless the premise is _really_ bat shit crazy 3. If smut/yaoi/yuri - go to the 13th page of 2 random chapters for web comics, 25th page of similar chapter sampling for manga (or eyeball 2 chapters - not the first 2 - for lewd). If there's lewd, the whole thing has a very high likelyhood of being lewd. 4. If non-complete power fantasy or shonen harem, avoid - those things can stretch to infinity 5. If the art is so bad it causes brain damage (has to be specifically cringe, misshapen or overly pretty/gritty/lewd art - I don't mind the art being like Mob Psycho) 6. If the front page needs to be censored from children - that's not for casual reading, that's for horny. 7. If it's one of those yaoi manhwa that's got the comment section frothing at the mouth about non-con 8. If the title otherwise spells out the plot or premise of the plot, especially in first person.
One thing that _does_ work in favor of any work is if it's tagged horror. or fantasy. or supernatural.
