I WASN'T EXPECTING AN UPDATE????????

YAAAAAAASSSSSSSSS LIFE IS BETTER WITHOUT EXPECTATIONS INDEED!!!!! (⌒♡⌒)

I agree, that was really good. But...it's too anticlimatic? I mean the part where he said that he can't say his sins easily in the first chapter...but in the second chap he said it like it was just a cover up- that there was another reason for it (was expecting tho). We know that Yukiya felt fcked up. We can see that in almost every page of the climax. But I just don't get it. Why was he guilty? Did it really hurt that much? I'm not a mangaka, so there might be some errors on what I'll say but...I think it's more effective to portray a sad person when the thoughts and the inner voices inside the main char's head than seeing the main character being acting all depressed. All I got in his thoughts was that it was his fault, etc.* But how? In what way? How did it feel when you realized that you were the reason why your friend died? Will it affect anyone's future? How would Yuuto feel that his biological father was dead because of you?* If the answer of those questions inside those asterisk would pop on Yukiya's thoughts, this manga would've killed it. It would give a lot of reasons why it would stress the hell out of you to the point of self destruction. It would actually make us, the readers, think "oh well fuck that is a big deal". The concept was good, honestly. I was pretty excited while reading the first volume. When Yukiya mentioned that his friend died bc of him, I was having a lot of assumptions. Did his friend confessed to him but Yukiya rejected so his friend raped him and felt remorse so he killed himself??? And since he hated the feeling of having sex with a man, maybe that was his own way of punishing himself for the death of his friend??? I was quite frustrated after finishing the two volumes bc some of Yukiya's intrusive thoughts didn't add up. They weren't heavily connected with each other at all. It lacked impact, but this is not a bad manga to read (=・ω・=)

But despite all that, I still love sensei bc she reallyyy writes good stories!!! (Check out Kiss Blue and Meguriau yo, baby (▰˘◡˘▰) )
p.s. The way sensei drew Takanashi's mouth is fkiiing sexyyyy ヾ(♡◡♡)ノ~ http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/gekkouzaka_no_hanayashiki/uu/gekkouzaka_no_hanayashiki-chapter-1/161/

    I totally understand your thinking.
What I thought was the reason is that his friend already was depressed about the situation having an affair with his friends wife, impregnating her and pushing that child to his friend. Then Yukiya also told him he loved him but he can't at least love him back. All this feeling of guilt and his already bad depression leeding to kill himself. Leaving Yukiya with the feeling that telling his love was the reason for his suicide.
I don't know if this is the real reason, but it kind of made sense to me.

True. It's almost as if...it was forced? Idk but I never really see this as Yukiya's fault. That's not even a good reason to commit suicide ( ̄△ ̄)

    MissOfChaos June 30, 2017 7:42 am

Absolutely not his fault. At first I thought that they had a relationship, but his friend could't accept that he's gay and there were problems with their parents or something like that and that was why he killed himself. Which would mean Yukiya felt guilty for "making him gay". But well,.. it's how it is.

Truuueee I mean the first volume was really good bc how the problem was introduced (the death of his friend was his fault) was really interesting!!! But...well (⊙…⊙ )

Somehow I think that made it more realistic too though. I know the previous comment made some points for this topic already, but it fits to say that there are many peoples in life that don't react to the extreme even if that's their situation. A lot of his turmoil was internal, which was the whole point. The point of the story was that he took YEARS to overcome his issue, which made it all the more reasonable to reflect it to life. The plot progression and climax was that other people finally pushed him to face what he was running away from.
I dunno, I guess I just had an easier time empathizing with him than others may be able. That or I just got really into the story.

I understand that, and I do agree that it was more of an internal conflict and how he overcame those conflicts inside him. The problem was that it lacks detail on his internal issues. One can't fully emphatize a person who's saying "It's my fault" without explaining why and how if may affect everyone around you irl. I had a hard time emphatizing him because he kept blaming himself without really going into further details, which was a bummer because I actually love how simple the concept was.

Ch.2-3 The Door to Spring - That's cruel fate. They have to suffer w/o doing anything wrong as they didn't know each other at that time.. It's a bit similar to "Not Equal" but everything in "Not Equal" falls exactly into place while everything in this one's gone wrong for them. It gives off such a lost feeling at the end. Not Equal is more twisted thou as the Seme knows all along the boy's his dad.

▸ Dad: I just want to be by your side.. You're my precious child.
▸ Haru: That boy no longer exists. Even so.. I'll still search for you. always & forever
➽ Those also hints their future that they'll live on as a normal family & bury that time travel-like incident as a secret. The one Haru loves is 'That warm Boy', not the Dad who'd left him & mom for 10 years, made them sad & cry to sleep. Page 29, the dad had left everything behind for 10 years just to change the past. That means he want to treasure Haru as precious son.

➽ IMO it's more like Not Equal was built to end up as "Happy Ending Incest" for all. But "The Door to Spring", it's the mistake incest that the Seme put all cost to PREVENT that incest incident to happen. But he failed & also had hurt his wife & precious son for 10 years long. Whatever, I hope Haru will find new love very soon then move out..

Will post this in the Topic Section bc some ppl skips the comment section ( ̄∇ ̄")

but it's sad anyway that Haru knows that The Warm Boy will never return... Your comment is really measured, not like the others "oh, it's incest, I don't like it, I'm out of here". Thank you :)
