I remember reading a post on another story that explained how this is an issue that's common in Korea. It was basically explaining how Korea has a weird view on adoption, it's been a while since I heard this so the information may be a little off but I'm pretty sure the government didn't like how many international adoptions were occuring (other races adopting korean child) so they placed a ban. But the issue is that most koreans themselves don't adopt. I think it's one of those traditonal/outdated mindset things where a woman has to bring her man his own child (usually a son so that that child can continue the bloodline and take over the family) that's her 'highest' value to her man. Those who don't, are usually negatively looked down upon. Which would explain Haesoo's mindset, she feels insecure because she feels her value is already low and keeps going lower so no one will want her. It's why it's a common troupe in asian media to see the "wicked mother-in-law" who will demand grandchildren and become awful if it doesn't happen. One thing I will add, I also HATE how when there are korean stories that do tackle adoption, the adopted child is typically "evil" or an antagonist or always feels left out. It just seems there's a naturally negative view towards adoption as a whole in Korea which is sad. Hoped this helped and for anyone to correct me if I got anything wrong!

It's always this weird pregnancy kink even if you're an emotional wreck who just escaped an abusive marriage, broke asf, with a situationship you know nothing about. Listen, this story from the beginning seemed to have a very close-minded traditional mindset, and Haesoo has definitely been socialised to think less of herself compared to men. It just shows from the way she's been raised, and later gaslit by Minhyuk. So it's understandable she thinks that way, also it seems in Korea they are not progressive like that.

But even in real life, you just cannot convince me of a good reason to give birth to a child instead of adopt in the current political climate and overall state of the world. You literally must have some weird breeding fetish to choose pregnancy over adopting a child who needs you. Even though you know the risks of pregnancy and how majorly downplayed and understudied women's health issues are in healthcare, how emotionally unstable you become after you give birth and how, without the proper support system, you are setting your newborn up for failure. Maybe it's a controversial take but I couldn't give less of a shit, really.

I was refused sterilization surgery for years by doctors gaslighting me about “changing my mind” as though a primal instinct would take over my mind like a parasite and lead me to a fertile man. Fucking insanity. Finally got it done. Couldn’t be more relieved. Especially now with the government’s obsession with the falling birthrate. Highkey scared of what may happen if things continue this way.

God this is infuriating just to think about! It just reveals their sick fantasies of what they want women to be doing, and it hurts most coming from people who are supposed to be responsible for your health. I am glad you were finally acknowledged and feel better now. I remember when I saw the news about that poor braindead pregnant woman in Georgia, the hospital kept her on life support as an incubator to deliver the baby, despite the family's disapproval. All because the state had banned abortion rights. Better off sterilized than having that be my fate. You too, stay safe

THANK YOUU!! honestly when I said somewhere else that taking care of orphans is a good thing, I got attacked so much, people kept saying "no you should only give them cheap clothing since they're not your real kids anyway, why waste koney on them" they all were saying stuff like this, so I'm really surprised to see fellow humans with common sense, so glad, so happy, so thank you!!

Exactly!! Especially ive been seeing mothers and they were showing us everything that happened, I mean sure you're happy to have your child, they're a gift, a beautiful life onto this cold cruel world, and it's a great thing, but once again, any child will do, they're all loveable, all beautiful and wholesome, give a home to an existing one, I heard in the us they keep giving back the kids when they see it's tough to care for them, well parenting is difficult already, but you are a responsible adult and you have this responsibility as a guardian, so no need to harm yourself more by also giving birth to them, some pregnant women wrote about how they lost teeth, and they became grey, and of course the way the body gives all the good to the baby and leave the mother with scraps, sigh, it's tough, honestly, if my husband wants to force me to give birth, I will so take him to court for attempted murder

OMG, it reminds me of a video I saw, a woman was giving birth for the third time, and they didn't even take her to a room, she was still being asked questions like "what's your name" and stupid stuff that can be taken care of later on, she was screaming from the pain, no one helped her, is that a hospital or a torture chamber??

This is sick! Honestly. Even back then the way they would chainsaw the woman's pelvis just for the baby to be given birth to, tsk, the patriarchy has to be burned, now we have those simulators for periods and pregnancy, it's like we still hope for some empathy and sympathy from men. When we should be getting all the powerful seats so they never get any, they've destroyed the planet enough, I pray we can all be living in a woman's world soon.
