I've never been in a relationship nor have I gotten heartbroken, but what this story made me feel is like heartbreak. It just hurts so much. I've never cried this hard to any story in my life. Hope Lewis rests well and finds someone in an alernate life perhaps T-T

Look at all his/her TL notes. Look at how he uses gay in the sentence. Now see that instead of using "gay" you can use other words like boring, bland, basic, meh, or other words to express your idea. But then you go and use "gay" as a substitute in a negative connotation. Now what would this mean? You're indirectly saying the word gay is boring, bland, basic, or any negative connotation refering to the context.

Now, this wouldn't be a problem if it was just a normal word, but "gay" is used to represent the identity of a group of people. People use it as a way to call themselves. People associate themselves with the word. And if you add in the hundreds of years of opression and the experiences gay people have, it's obvious you're gonna offend people who use it to call themselves. The fact that you take a word with a history of opression behind it and just take it lightly as a joke, is utterly disgusting. Of course, my opinion does not represent the whole of the gay community, I mean, not every gay guy grows up constantly being opressed or even killed. If you're not gay, you absolutely have no say in this, And if you are, just because you're gay and not offended doesn't mean you can invalidate the feelings of people who do. And as a TL, the right thing to do would be to apologize even if it ain't formal, and just educate yourslef, no need for cancelling people. That would have ended it all and everything would be all and well. But instead you just can't lay down your bloated sense of pride and goes on being unproffesional.
