Random thought but I feel like the people who dropped this solely because his body turned female are misogynistic or have internalized misogyny. Got this thought from reading the latest chap, 102, when his father was like he's a guy in his core(heart) but a girl in his outer form and it was honestly quite sweet.

I didn't drop it but i was frustrated just cause i feel like female characters in action/martial arts based works tend to be underestimated due to their gender and constantly have to prove themselves. Also the fact that he could be turned back at like literally any time (if I'm remembering right) but the guys that caused it are taking advantage of the situation and making dark continue working for the country frustrates me as well. I really like the story, i suppose it's just there are certain differences in a story to when a mc is female or male presenting, though i think the writer did an amazing job at retaining dark's personality as if he was still in a male's body which is why i still read

the only reason i was sad was cause his original character design was amazing, like super striking and charismatic. honestly i would be made of his fl form just took characteristics from when he was a guy. and i also worry about him changing back and if he’ll be able to keep the dragon heart and all the progress he’s made

It think the genderbend is the uniqueness of the story. If that didn't happened it would be no different from other isekai genres with typical MC. I mean how many genderbend characters still remain the badass cool character of the MC?In other stories they became fanservice characters but not this one.

I hate putting my hopes up. Based on the thumbnail, I thought there would FINALLY be a BL manga where the central plot is the adventure story and the romance is a side story. Y'know, kinda like every other Adventure story out there. But I guess society is still too isolated from that

While it isn't necessarily an "adventure" story, but have you seen the anime Spirit Pact? Theres also a Manhua which I personally have yet to read. Unfortunately, its discontinued, but the two seasons it does have are the best for the very reason you're stating now. There is definite romance between the pair, but the romance itself is more of a side thing. So, we get that good BL romance we all crave, but also really nice story as well-as well as an actually really nice development of their bond, romantic or not. I would reccomend it!
I also do strongly want a shounen type anime with some spinkings of actual BL in it. Of course, romance in a shounen can end up ruining the story, but I feel like if it's done right, it would be so so good.
