Ultimately I think she really wanted to have Ian back (Her baby from the first timeline) thus she had accepted the fact that her fate is tied with the prince just for Ian
There are so many scene in the novel where she's clearly no longer interested with the crown prince, un fact she no longer love him (Her own words)
But yeah it does sucks that the author still arranged them to be the end game.
