I think that's because they are all early 20 year olds, if you fostered a kid so young, people will think you knocked up someone and then had a shotgun marriage, it's not really seen as a positive thing. That's why just saying he's dating is better.

personally i think it was a slow burn (like how he said he only saw her as a childhood friend/sister) and his dysfunctional family definitely attributes to him wanting her affection
I don't think he had a crush on her when he was 15 and she was 10. It was more like a friendship and a person who saw him for who he is in that abusive household. Then they were apart for 7 years. I think the romantic interest started to develop after the met again, when she was 19 and he was 24

Unable to forgive Wilhelm for deceiving her, Reinhardt returns to the Luden estate and cuts off contact with Wilhelm for health reasons.
Wilhelm becomes emperor.
Four years later, Reinhardt, who entered the palace at the emperor's call, gives Wilhelm his son Bill Roy, who was secretly born and raised, and tries to return to the Luden territory.
(She brought her son to the capital with Dietrick (he’s alive). Before going to the palace they have a meet-and-greet at the gate with an aristocratic or something like that. It was raining and Dietrick were holding the child, FL look at her son expressionless and think that he looks just like his father, the child was so happy that his mother was looking at him so he stretched out his hands to her, but she just straight up ignored him and turned her head away. She was supposed to greet and introduce her son, however she ignored everyone, went straight to the carriage (while leaving Dietrick and her son behind) and being a cringe lord inside her carriage. When she showed her son to the ML, the child was nervous so he grabbed her shoulder, but she removed his fingers off her (???Like???) and so the poor child have no other choice but holding on Dietrick, the only one who was gentle to him. The child was so scared and frightened because of the atmosphere but his parents doesn't even care and straight up ignored him.)
(FL took her frustrations out on her 1st born son at least until she reconciled with the ML. One of the reasons she didn't like her son because apparently, the CHILD was clinging to her, HIS MOTHER, and it resembled the ML (ML was also clinging and usually acting like a child when he was with her). When the baby was born he kept crying for his mother, but FL ordered people took him away because his behavior resembled his father (clinging to her) and it makes FL feels disgusted. The baby keeps crying and refused to eat from the wet nurse and was about to die in a few days, and so FL came and fed him with some help from Dietrick's wife. The child have his father features so FL couldn't even look at him properly, he grew up calling his own mother 'her excellency' instead of 'mother' bc he knew it annoyed her. FL noticed that and tried to make up with him by 'hug' and 'put him to sleep' but was distressed again because he was throwing a tantrum, and because he's more and more resembled his father. When she thought she couldn't bear it anymore, the emperor summoned them. At the time his mother left him, he was 4yo, since then he had to live with a father who didn't even care about him, a crazy grandma who was verbally abused him, and a grandfather who only 'cares' about him because he's his successor.)
Wilhelm, who couldn't stand it, grabs Reinhardt and takes out the past work that he was supposed to grant his wish and they spend the night for a week. A week later, Reinhardt runs away to the fief again without saying goodbye.
Two years later, at Sierra's request, Reinhardt heads to the demon-infested Prim Mountains and encounters Wilhelm. Wilhelm resolves the abnormal conditions of the Prim Mountains and reconciles with Reinhardt after many twists and turns.
Reinhardt then travels between the Luden estate and the Imperial Palace, spending the rest of her life happily with their eldest Bill Roy, the second Bianca, the third twins, and Wilhelm.
