In my understanding, Middle School is like 3 years, and another 3 years (16-19?) in Highschool so they'll be 19 by the time they graduate. I think Won is studying for college but Hangun won't, so he's working.
Middle school is grades 7-9 (12-15 yo) then hs is 10-12 (16-18 yo) so they met when they were 12/13 yo, then started getting close at 15 or smth. In korea grades 11-12 is a fragile time with constant studying due to the entrance exams and their version of lsats where grades determines what school are u eligible to enter.
