Ok so he thinks it makes him less of a man to be bottom? So what does he take tamaki san for? A woman? Seriously it would have been perfect if it weren't for that sentence. I'm hoping it's a translation error of some sort. Also, they'd better switch now cuz tamaki was the bigger MAN and bottomed in spite of being originally straight. Just shows his level of commitment. It's ioroi's turn now to prove himself.

U know... part of me still can't forgive sabo. I just loved ace. So much. And I keep thinking "if only he remembered earlier"... And it's killing me. Cuz ace was such a great guy. So nice. And now he's gone and we're left with the fact that it could have all gone down differently. "If only he remembered earlier." I know it's been a long time but that kind of wound just doesn't fade.

u blame him for not remembering? hes having amnesia for god sakes. do u think he didnt try to remember? he lost his memory at a v young age. and didnt get them back even after decade later. so they conclude he'll never recover it (the fact that hes away from them doesnt help at all). and so he agreed. but ace's death triggered his memory and we dont need u blaming him, we all know whos hurting the most here, sabo himself. and u thought sabo killed ace? wWHAT EVEN?! PLEASE POINT UR HATRED TO THE RIGHT PERSON!

Yeah, I get it.. I cried so much when Ace died ><
Since Oda usually don't kill the chars, so I was "Why did you have to kill my baby? (/TДT)/"
And about the news, I think it needed to be something really shocking and since someone being arrested probably is something common, Sabo was like "whatever, just some dude being arrested again", but I get your point
And Sabo has being a good bro for Luffy too and the fact he got Ace's power, so makes me think Ace didn't really died, the two older brothers are together now >w<

I'm just so upset rn. They were just so *happy* together. Then kan chan's work had to fuck it up. I keep think "if only he had quit," "if only he stopped supporting his ignorant sister" "if only he took yumi's help"... ugh

ikr!!!!! the fuck is that!!!! she's a 3rd year for god's sake she can just go work and get money by herself but noooo my poor kan-chan has to take responsibility and suffer damn it.
and that piece of shit that asshole boss I just want to set him on fire FUCK YOU!!! why are u treating him this way just bcz he used to play so much in school he's just soooooo..... ughhhh I'm so angry rn. bcz of him this beautiful relation was broken ╥﹏╥ these beautiful 2 hearts was hurt "cries" I curse u you prick (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸

But even if she worked, she wouldn't be able to pay for her tuition. I don't think anybody in his family knows he's getting abused anyway, so they also thought it would be fine to rely on him financially.
But yes, I agree with you that the boss (and co-workers) are damned pieces of shit. Sadly, we won't see them get what they deserve. (and maybe they won't, because... that's just reality :( )

i'm gonna be an asshole now, but i must say that i felt less sorry for kan-chan now than i did in the sequel.
we knew is work situation was shitty, he was under a lot of pressure that built up etc.etc., which was something i could understand. most people keep their job even if it's like that, even if it ruins them.
however, this pre-prequel paints his work abuse as super extreme, (even for japanese standards), from physically getting beaten up until he bleeds, any kind of humiliation, even standing naked in front of your boss lol, so ... i have problems feeling sorry for him as much because WHY THE FUCK did he keep working there?
he was young and didn't earn much anyway, so he easily could've found another less shitty work for the same money, the sister excuse is just not sticking with me if he had to go through such levels of abuse everyday. even if he felt super responsible for his sister and felt like he couldn't do anything, this really was illogical here and is somewhat hard to believe.

It's not so illogical if you're trying to make ends meet. It's a more realistic side of the story. It's not an ideal world where you can get a job as soon as you quit your current job. Plus Yumi was not financially stable too. In addition to that he has to support his sister. He doesn't have the luxury of choosing and is clinging to whatever he had at the moment in order to survive. If you actually realized from the manga, he's the type of person who assumed responsibility. The first thing he said to Yumi when he's asking him out was he's going to find a job and make him happy. So it's not that surprising he acted the same way with his sister too.
Girl, it's called being empathic. I hate how he became abusive. But I love how he realizes the toxicity of his relationship and letting Yumi go was the best. He had enough courage to admit that he is turning into a monster. He didn't expect Yumi to love him when he's like that as oppose to some of psychos out there. Acknowledging that you're not ok is the first step of becoming a better person.

i am sorry, since it's fictional it's pointless to argue much anyway, but a lot of what you wrote are just the excuses we tend to tell ourselves to keep in unhappy situations and not taking the responsibility of our own lives.
first of all, it was never mentioned that he even searched for another job, (it's not like you have to quit beforehand), he worked there for 5 years! 5 years is plenty enough to search and find another job, and even while the situation in japan isn't ideal, as i said, he was a low-paid unqualified worker anyway. so..it's not like he would have to lose much or fear not earning enough in another job. he was underpaid anyway. the fact that his boyfriend had tons of part-time jobs and frequently kept switching them just shows that it wouldn't have been that hard. (he also could have consulted him to not struggle with the financials alone).
he was not 'surviving'. he was not starving on the streets or something. he lived in an apartment, had a moped, lived with a bf who could afford to not have a stable job, etc.
as i said, if he had just a slightly shitty job, i would have understood. enough to make life shitty but not really enough to put most people into action to actually change something. understandable for most of us. but he didn't. he had one of the shittiest work-experiences one can get in the first world, and while it's not one in a million in japan, it's also not as normal or harmless as to say that he couldn't find a better job easily. given that the job destroyed his relationship brutally and on top of that mentally scared him for years, i am sure he would agree afterwards lol
i'm not delving too much into the sister issue, there is more there but as i said: he wasn't paid well anyway, so changing jobs wouldn't have affected his financial support anyway.
i am empathetic. but being empathetic doesn't mean that i have to justify or excuse the bad life choices he did. because they were bad. he is not at fault for the abuse he did go through, but he is responsible for his life and he WAS in a position to choose.
and yes, he did take responsibility for his relationship with yumi at the end (which both didn't do before), he also eventually chose another job. but he waited so long that both brought unnecessary suffering, which is why i am not feeling as sorry for him as when the suffering would've been unavoidable or if he was just unsatisfied with his work, enough to mentally affect him but not enough to take such a big toll on him.
i just feel like tanaca did go a little bit overboard with his suffering, she probably intended for readers to be more sympathetic like this than with him just suffering a little, but as i said, had the opposite effect for me. i understand not buying new shoes when your old one's sting a little. but i don't understand walking in them, being able to buy new ones, when they are filled with spikes perforating your feet endlessly.

You pointed out something very important here, 'even if she got a job she wouldn't be able to pay her tuition' so I think it was also a bit much for her brother to shoulder paying it on his own. Even if he felt thankful to his sister for whatever reason, there are his parents still too.
I just have a hard time accepting this. I would never force or even allow my child to pay something that expensive for my other child. Because they're both young, they don't need to stress themselves out over money problems and having to deal with abuse from their job when they should be enjoying their youth.
Maybe it is the difference in our cultures.

This is actually quite the late response. But I'll still respond.
You made points, good points, tho some are quite... eh. But then again, it's fiction so I wanna play (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
1) Regarding the looking for another job thing... I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is his first job. The system might be different in your country but in what I've seen in some countries including mine, they kinda dig up your history (Which I think most companies do anyway), so if your previous employer hits your supposed new employers buttons (making you look bad) + you being under-qualified, ya ain't goin' nowhere. Experience is his only + factor so he can't really make much of a choice can he. Most if not all part time jobs (from what I've seen) don't really care about college degrees, companies do. So... I refuse your argument about job changing. If that's how your life went they you're lucky honey, I know a few people who had to walk through fire just to find a new one and it might not even be better, could be worse. Tho yes, 5 years is a long enough time to look for a new job, and 6 months was enough to bring me back my anxiety and depression which means that it could've still gotten that bad... it'd probably help with reducing the effects of work abuse but it'll still be there. And have you seen how some people treat immigrant workers? Until they're sent back to their country as a corpse? Have you? Philippines has quite the number of this, and I'm sure it ain't the only country receiving this treatment. I mean, a lot of people that graduated with degrees still find a bit of a hard time finding a job, what more about the under-qualified applying for a job that requires qualifications?
2) Financial support, fam depends on him, and his underpaid yet stable income, please consider poor people who are experiencing this, don't just look into one side of society and think, oh, it's easy here, and simple. And then again, switching jobs ain't as easy as people say especially for the non-qualified. Some don't even bother to look at the person that didn't get any achievements in school, which is sad, coz I have a few friends that are extremely talented, yet no one pays attention to them coz "No achievements", they all be like "Don't care about yo circumstances, if ya dun have good school history, ya ain't shit".
Tho in 3 I do kinda agree with you, he IS responsible for what happens in his life, and what he chooses to do with what he is experiencing. I just don't like the part where I feel you're kinda stating that getting a job is that easy, he was able to change his company afterwards because he now has that "experience" which makes him a better competition for recruitment. Experience and qualifications weight your value when applying for a job, he didn't have those by the time he was abused, what choice does he have? Part time? With a fam that depends on him, it won't work.
*Oh damn this is making me emotional...*
I'm not looking for a fight, nor an argument. I just really had to say that, as much as your world might be quite nice, you haven't seen all of it yet. It is possible that you've started living in the great part of the world where there's only some thunderstorms every now and then, but I started in the part of the world where as a child, I've experienced reality, where people use you, abuse you, judge you for your social status, race, the only thing we can do now is stand up.
We may keep walking with shoes filled with spikes and thorns and all that, and we don't plan on keeping them on forever, but we have to bear with them until we are finally able to replace them without the possible backlash. The pain we felt in those shoes filled with thorns are experiences we cannot avoid going through, as much as we want to sadly.
This ain't excuses, and I don't think you're an asshole, until I find out your personality :D, but you show yourself to be ignorant, and I hope you try to check on it, consider, and confirm next time. I'm not offended, tho I am quite hurt at how you say things could've been that easy.
╥﹏╥

Just to follow up, peeps already keep saying what if she had also got a job... to add, if his sister wanted to help, she could've also worked hard and gotten a scholarship. I mean, even 50% would've been extremely helpful. There's academics, or talent (like arts). And probably a few other options I haven't heard before.
Since ren's just playing it cool I can't even say anything. I actually feel kind of deflated with him not even ccaring about the kiss. I mean I didn't make a big deal of it in the first place but it did kind of irritate me and now I'm just wtvr. All because his reaction was so flat. ╮( ̄△ ̄)╭
Well we'll probably see a reaction out of him if he sees that Kyoko found out about it :P
I don't think she will though? Like I said, ren just glossed over this so it will prob be forgotten. And they're not together anyway so she wouldn't be able to say anything what with her being so adamant about keeping her feelings locked away.
Wait. I just realizes writing this that smth similar can happen with ten that happened w kyoko. Shit. Someone can be taking a pic. Oh no. I'm getting a really bad feeling. I hope I'm wrong cuz that's a whole other level of complicated
