You have some misconceptions about rape. It is almost always someone you know. A stranger raping you in some back alley is quite rare. Rape in general is insanely common (20% of college women) and the most preferred drug is alcohol.

This story goes beyond the standard yaoi rape paradigm. The uke clearly says no and the seme aggressively and forcefully does it anyway. He uses a common real and very scary excuse "it's your fault I lack control."

It makes sense that this manga rubs people the wrong way as it reinforces victim blaming and is pretty over the top, even by yaoi standards. It isn't the only one to do it, nor the only one with good art, but the presence of others doesn't make this one ok. It is controversial and no one is required to be comfortable with it or like it just because we read a lot of mangas lacking clear consent.

Then maybe you should read american comics? It is the japanese definition. Not all mangas started with it but it is known as yaoi cliched start. Because you know? Its hard to put two guys into relationship, not as an excuse to use rape, but theyre using it to lure in the body. I know not all times it meant naked body means showing yourself, but look at how the concept of most mangas, its expressed through this. And guys mostly go with instincts. And excuse me, yaoi is in japan and japan is in asia, And here in asia, the lgbt community isnt as open and accepted, ofcourse trying to put two guys in relationship base on this is gonna be complicated. I know Lgbt commmunity in america is mmore open, not easy coming out but influence of the country is liberty. It goes well, and gays mostly do things organized and in order like coming out-got a lover -sex. I know its weird for you guys, and its not really a yaoi culture(Well actually i think it is since yaoi mangas from past years actually have it 80%) . They read the manga but they only judged it by how its rape. You are not appreciating the manga at all if thats the only thing you can say, If this continues on, Yaoi might just vanished due to disagreement of readers on how the author should do his/her work instead. People just rant and they didnt think of what it can do, after all, Yaoi is kinda at its peak now slightly with the help of Yuri on Ice from exposures. Bad appreciation might lead to unpopularity, and authors might shift to another genre. I love yaoi and im not gonna sit here while you bad mouth it, without really thinking through the story, its not acceptable at all.

In japan, homosexuality isn't as accepted and victim blaming/lack of police help is a very real and serious problem in all rape cases. Mangas shouldn't be reinforcing these negative stereotypes, but regardless this is an English site. It will predominantly possess a more Western perspective. I doubt their dislike or like of one manga (on a free site) would condemn the entire genre. Not everything has to be accepted and loved for the genre to thrive.

I would disagree on it being a good story. I've read a lot of yaoi and the lack of addressing the rape is a fairly big writing flaw. There is very little motive for it (both clearly gay), no need for inciting action, and no resolution. These issues are handled better in other mangas. The rape trope is used often in yaoi, usually as a resolution to one partner not being gay, lack of character development, or to earmark a possessive seme. The follow-up of caring about the uke afterwards turns that possessiveness to affection. This manga lacked the turn point and suddenly made him an "angel" with no real reason. This is bad writing.

Outside of that the story is extremely cliche in its plotline. It offers nothing new either intellectually or story-wise except he is an angel instead of a dog. It is hardly the paragon of a good story writing. The pacing, translation, and art is good, but not enough to redeem it, in my opinion, completely. I thought it was ok (2 stars).

I dont actually understand you too .. You admitted that you know its a manga. And its cliched. Why suddenly critic a yaoi that obviously focus on how body interwines than a plot being put seriously? There are some like Saezuru tori no habatakanai but this manga is obviously not. Why do you expect so much when you know Its one of those easy-loveydovey plot? Why said the most obvious start up that its bad since its negative, shouldnt reinforce, when obviously the readers knows what real rape is? Please empty your cup before you read a manga, im not forcing you tho.

And btw ofcourse the sites in english not because its for westeners but because english is the most studied language, its a universal language so all the readers on the world can read it, dont such be a racist there. And theyre not actually aiming for the whole world to read it, free-manga-sites just translate it for the love of their culture, Because all of it is great and made with own standard of doing it (i mean like using tones, real ink unlike most that use editor and such ) Also, japanese mangas runs way 1990's until now, the nation itself doesnt have problems to such extent that they banned it so who are you to say its somewhat bad, its their mangas culture. Thats why i will plead them to respect it.

My point? Respect the manga, and if youre gonna say its bad , go through all the way proving its really really bad without comparing it to other manga. Drawing has its beauty on how to show emotions from eye movements to thoughts, you would know why they take that specific action and why did the story take that turn. And if you judge a manga, dont only judge the first chapter, the story isnt finished, judge it to the end, yes it might turn bad but plot all there is but the concept apetite that counts.

Im not angry, i just turn really sarcastic when debating.. Probably because i like being sarcastic and ironic (i think its a cool thing that the geniuses do , im not a genius but i got accustomed doing it and well uhm..
