tbh its not classist to say you shouldnt have children if you cant afford it. having children isnt a right, its a luxury. not saying poor people cant have children, but if they dont continue to change their situation and work towards the better for their children, they really should not be having children in the first place, burdening themselves and their children further.

Yikes at viewing poverty as personal choice rather than systemic failures of society

While I agree that it is probably better for people to have children only if they are capable enough, you must keep in mind that it is NOT a choice for people to be stuck in poverty. Poverty is a trap. One cannot simply say "if they don't continue to change their situation and work towards the better of their children in the first place, burdening themselves and their children further." because poverty is such a broad concept that you cannot just blame the poor for being poor. There are so many factors that contribute to inducing poverty; society, the governing institutions, and generally the SYSTEMS we were born in have failed us. I probably could have worded this better and said more stuff, but I wouldn't have the time. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

that is classist... so people should be deprived of children for being poor?? that's a government issue, people don't CHOOSE to be in poverty nor should they be demonized for wanting love in a family

It’s not “people should be deprived of children for being poor” it’s more like don’t have more children if you cannot provide for the first one. Ofc sex education and family planning is also lacking that’s why there are a lot of poverty stricken families. Yet, parents should know that children are not wallets. This is not really towards the poor but people who see their children as people they can leech off of. Raising a child is an obligation and parents shouldnt tell their children “I raised you so you should pay me back”. I know a lot of people like this and the same goes as well for me. as much as you feel that way for the parents u should also do so for the children. It’s a vicious cycle and unless you cut it off, you can never get out. Thankfully, millenials are able to understand the burden of having children so a lot of them are preparing first before going into such obligation.

no you do have a point. most people in poverty are forced into it and its difficult to get out of it due to systems that continually oppressed them. my original statement was insensitive of that fact

Understood. but i was also pertaining to your original comment because i actually didn’t see anything with ‘extreme’ regard to “not allowing the poor to have kids because they cannot raise them” in the topics included in this manga. All i see are people saying that they understand why daon acted like so.

What are your thoughts with families who keeps on producing children despite knowing they cannot raise them. As in families living in extreme poverty yet having more than 5 children. your comments reminded me of that one documentary where teenage pregnancies are common and sex is apparently a form of entertainment within the people in their area. They said that they don’t have jobs and with the pandemic, they had no choice but to stay at home and since they don’t have anything to do at home, they do sex instead. Is it still classist to tell these people to stop (regardless of age) because if they don’t they will continue to produce an offspring but they won’t be able to raise it? This is really Just an honest question. (=・ω・=)
