To everyone in the comments what I did to understand this story completely was to watched the anime (donghua) first two episodes then read the novel till that part, then watched the anime season 1 till the end and finished the novel completely, after that Iwatched the second season of anime (which has a lot of changes and not true to story %100)
I recommend you to leave the drama and manga to end I think its better and please definetely read the novel you understand everything perfectly
The manga mostly follow the novel. But for anime and drama, deliberately not made like the original novel. because it is for the wider community. while China is not a country that is open to this genre (〜￣△￣)〜
