The mother isn't as problematic, it's hard to live someone with sever depression and trying to keep a family together in all of that. If the people with depression don't make the effort to do better for at least themselves, much less their family. It's like trying to bring a dead person back to life. She essentially was a single mom because the dad was incapable of being a father after a while. So she was probably really emotionally drained but it doesn't make it less bad of how she wasn't able to raise her child. But she did they best she could as a human being

I rather her take up her own identity, like I understand she doin it for Emi but even as an observer her whole life she still can't be her and technically she's not, it's just the fact that she's using Emi as a mask. She obviously has an ego/ personality of her own and since she's been exiled she has all the right to behave however she pleases without having Emi as a front. At times it also seems like she's heavily tricking herself about what emi wants when it definitely feels like her own desires are definitely mixed in. There's a difference between live a life and being an observer of that persons life.
There's a lack of anticipation in these last two chapters also the cheering on of everyone is extremely cringe considering there was no impact leading up to it. It felt like there were some parts missing and it was a clingy manga scene
Honestly over all the manga is greatly paced but the last 2 chapters were anti climatic
