I think it’s because of how chaotic and determined the man is and how it never seemed like anything went out of his control. Just when you think everything is going to go in a better direction he suddenly pulls out the ‘I was always watching’ card and that we have always just been running in place getting away from ‘him’ while never leaving his grasp. You have to make the hope real to be able to instill real discomfort when the truth actually comes out
