I get that I'm used to witnessing yandere level type whatever obsessive possessive type of seme there are but the way his character is sewn together like that my brain is going overload I think like wth... In all seriousness though, it's evidently shown how trauma is perceived by the characters differently. It didn't justified how the FL was treated badly though. You can even see that it wasn't fulfilling for him to watch how the FL's condition worsened yet he couldn't let go of his resentment towards the monarchy who cause a lot of pain for him, too.
FL's expressions are the best, always teasing the ML. (≧▽≦)
