100% agree with you... Not to mention a lot of the time it just comes out of nowhere so there like no warning

honestly a child having a crush on an adult does happen in real life but the part where they grow up to get together with the adult who only ever thought of themselves as the child's parent figure, or the adult exploiting the child's feelings for their own selfish reasons (although also common in real life) is weird and wrong.

if the childhood crush doesn't provide crucial backstory, trauma or moves the story forward, i find it strange that the child ends up being with their crush who was 20 or so years older than them and the adult essentially grooming them.

exactly, tbh i have no problem when an adult meets someone whose way older than them and they develop feelings for each other. but when you've grown up with a child who doesn't know better than to mistake his feelings of admiration or validation for love, and you instantly forget about your parental feelings towards the child just because they began pursuing you is indeed very predatory

I don’t think his father was cheating more like Ethan’s ex always harboured feelings for Ethan’s dad and used Ethan as a replacement because they look alike (especially in vampire form)

I agreed, I honestly don’t even believe the dad was cheating. He appeared to be so in love with his wife in the backstory.

Yeah we have to wait to see the next chapters for clarification. Let’s hope it’s not cheating since I’ve had enough of that with the recent chapters

This and the cheating also is too much for my brain to handle. Let’s not panic, we wait for next chapters.

That’s actually quite a common trope in BL where they either fall for a person and because of unrequited love they date a family member similar to them. Even one of the biggest Japanese BL’s junjou romantica had that kind of plot. I’m not really bothered by that much since it seems like Ethan was in the know and they just used each other to fulfill what they want. It’s what happened with Ethan and the ex whilst Ethan is in a relationship that messed me up. I just know the author is tryna add stuff like this to build tension but it’s like a complete 180 of their characters in s1 and seems out of nowhere. I kinda expected the wren and Tristan obstacle since obviously they hinted that Tristan was in love with wren in the past and Wren is now being manipulated by the uncle to come in between their relationship. But the whole Ethan and his ex and the kissing came outta nowhere and out of character considering how jealous Ethan is. I literally never expected Ethan to go that far and down that route. Just disappointing.

He knows, it's just that his "brother" is not his biological family, and the implication that the guy did, that the use was dirty and worthless made him mad.
