I mean, no matter what backstory Okaya has, there is no justification for what he did and still does. People out there really believe evil can't be born? This is just a manga but there are a lot of kids who have loving families, no complications at all and they are just... pure evil. With no reason whatsoever. They hurt and kill only for their own amusement, it wouldn't surprise me if Okaya is just the spawn of Satan just for the sake of it.
Yeah, good that this manga doesn't try to give sad backstories to villains. Like "they're so evil, BUT diD YoU knOw, this tragedy happend to them, so they're not actually evil, the society just ruined them"
In the same time like ordinary highschoolars, they're spending time with each other, someone's angry issues, they seems to be nice to each other and care about one another (at least Kunigawa). Something I do feel empathy for them (more like pity them) but not in a way I'd question Maria's actions, they're just horrible people even in their latest moments

As a reader, I can say I read angst, drama, murder, toxic leads, and abuse stories. But as an empath, I really should stop. I start not only putting myself in the place of the MC's, but also imagining, someone out there is feeling what they are feeling and that honestly makes me feel worse. I'm starting to think I'm some sort of masochist because I end up sobbing everytime but I always end up reading until the end or until I can't take it anymore. Honestly this guy should disappear from earth, Annette deserves better. It wasn't your fault honey, and it never will be.
