That was a metaphor. He meant not to be led to still act just like a bloodhound as he were in the past, now solely because of wanting revenge. He still wants revenge but now with clarity of mind that it's not the only thing that should give him purpose.

The purple hair girl who had no martial arts training expected being super fast defended her crush who had years of martial art training.
