Now of course, the drug's making his self awareness lower and his memory's not on point, but this is also because he blindly trusts his childhood friend to want the best for him (which we obviously know isn't true). He has a limited understanding of how humans can harm one another and sure, if you wanna call that low IQ or him being dumb that's your opinion, but it's honestly just the psychological backround he has being protected as a kid
