Bro is like Odysseus. He became so corrupt bc love and feels completely different while also the same. I need him to want to get out, the jump to love literally destroyed any chance at a fulfilling ending. Love the story, depressed by how this is gonna go.

Lmao Odysseus wasn't corrupted cause of love? He isn't an obsessive lover, in fact the whole plot is that he wavers but always returns to Penelope as a juxtaposition to Penelope who is unwaveringly loyal. Like he even cheats on her??

Odysseus did not cheat on Penelope. He was raped. The only version in which ha cheated were the Roman retellings. Which are wildly known to be in accurate and born as a result of the war

He kinda was, he sacrificed a bunch of people to get home. Maybe not love for Penelope, but definitely love for his kingdom. Also, he's "like", I didn't say they were completely similar. And "cheated" depends on your interpretation of the book ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Um? There's no roman retelling of the Odyssey. Do you mean the Aeneid? Ik Ulysses appears there but I'm not really familiar with the differences in there to the Odyssey.

In the Odyssey as far as I can find he did sleep willingly with Circe. Part of bullshit patriarchal expectations about women were about them being hospitable once tamed and Odysseus defeating her in battle was exactly that. So she , graciously, invites him to roll around after she's sworn not to hurt his men.

He didn't really sacrifice anyone though.

Ok full honestly: I haven't read the whole odyssey so I can't stand 100% by what I say, but the only time you could argue he sacrificed anyone was in scylla and even then he was just powerless to do anything because the monster is literally immortal, and if they tried fighting it only more would have died because of the whirlpool monster charibdis or however you spell it()

I realize now that you could have been speaking about the musical version which I just heard today. If that was what you were referring to then I would agree.

But I disagree if you're referring to the og homer version, and you're referencing both so I'm confused.

If you meant musical why bring up books, and that it wasn't love for Penelope. Especially when his love for her is the only thing in common he has with the ml of this story. So by saying it wasn't obsessive love towards his wife then that makes them lose their link. I didn't say you said they were completely similar either.

Idk I'm just tired and confused about which version you're talking about gnight friends I hope that was legible (autocorrect carrying as always)
