i honestly don't like them as a couple either. The author has very much shown zi xiao as the annoyed younger brother who doesn't like his brother but deep down still thinks fondly of as family. It's a very very traditional relationship between an older and younger brother despite them being step siblings. Zi Xu also when they were younger truly acted like a big brother so I really don't understand when you started seeing his what looks like 10 yr old brother in a romantic way all the way into adulthood. Granted I just find the whole falling in love with your sibling even step sibling to be incest as it is recognized so at least in the USA hence my likely conditioned bias and thus gross. Except I've become heavily invested in the new Korean BL Love or Hate because while it's the same set up of two step brothers with a difficult relationship it clearly highlights the toxicity of their relationship and the obvious impact that their taboo relationship has rather than the yaoi logic of incest is cool and everyone and their neighbor ignores that Dad and son down the street who are clearly fucking each night.....
