It's amazing how much character development Haruhi went through. Aside from this being a love story, I also felt like it was about self-love. At the start he really looked like such a monotonous character, so empty and plain. But as the story progresses, his eyes gradually gain life and we finally get to see his true personality. As he learns to love and accept himself, we also get to love him more.
That forehead kiss melted my heart. It's my favorite type of kiss too since it means they respect and treasure you. ╥﹏╥ It's even cuter since their relationship started roughly.
