"She should've just told him!" How? She already told him that his friend is a traitor, he didn't believe her. She asked him if he's hiding something and he lied. She asked him to believe her and he didn't.
This is perfect and it makes complete sense and I would think lesser of the Duke if he blindly followed her. Doesn't change the fact that she couldn't have told him earlier. She couldn't trust him not to confront his friend himself or to try and get in her way. Once she knew Astrid was safe, she told him immediately. Beneath the veneer of greed and business, it's obvious she did this simply because the Duke loves Astrid. He didn't tell her about Astrid, he even got upset with her for interfering, but Maddie went and did out anyway, because she actually takes his safety seriously.
Like. Ohh myyy god. You cannot read this straight. You can't look at a character like Maddie and trust her facade blindly. She isn't this manic pixie assassin doing whatever she wants for fun, she's extremely competent, thoughtful and clever. Just because she tells the duke (directly or indirectly) that she's a pleasure-driven, careless wildcard doesn't mean you have to believe her.

I know you think you're loyal and that all is going to go well in you're happy love life, but unfortunately, you're on chapter 14 of a yaoi manga, which means some other four eared beefy guy will bump into you by accident and set of a chain off events and misunderstandings, that will result in angst, emotional resolution, and some more possessive pheromone sex . And we'll all be very happy about it.

Aiihhhhgh....Arghhhh. I just love it so much. Every scene, every chapter, is just so overwhelming filled with love for Sylvan. There aren't many stories where you can see such devout love at the most pathetic point of a person's life. Yet they're all so gentle, caring and loving. From Gjord, to the servants, to random people he met in the past, they all adore him. I don't think it's just loyal servitude either, it's deep friendships, inside jokes, life long acquaintances.
It's not even just the common yaoi obsession, it's genuine care. Gjord isn't trying to make Sylvan his slave, he's trying to give him back what is his. Not trying to take advantage of him in this vulnerable situation, but to remind him he's a person of honor and dignity.
Even at his weakest, most confused and scared Sylvan is still a wonderful and loveable person, which most just be so infuriating for Lister, who could live with feeling inferior to a ruler, but not to a slave.
Unlike most "salvation romance" stories, I don't feel like it's about how great of a guy Fjord is, but about what a wonderful person Sylvan was and is, to have earned such loyalty from those around him.

This is why I look forward to Sunday nights before I go to bed. I sometimes see people iffy on Gjord's behavior (especially early on) but after only a few chapters, I realized he's not some horny brute, but a man in love who's been without it for the past two years.
And a horny brute. But not without reason lol.

Saw the update and immediately thought "Oh, the dog rape manga". Sorry, no getting past that and it only seems to get worse. I can hear the people saying "He was always cruel! He was always evil!", yes, but to his own benefit. He manipulated, lied and let people die for his own benefit and pleasure. The author didn't really make clear how this would benefit him, and I don't really want to stick around for a protag who did that for his pleasure. Sorry, but if the author simply wanted to shock the audience, it worked too well.

Maybe? He never seemed particularly caring for her, but I can see him wanting to punish those who went against him. Still not enough of a reason to include THAT tho. Not even out of some "it's too cruel" sentiment, but because it's extremely out of place and perverse, so it immediately takes the story in a probably unwanted direction. This isn't just a cruel sadistic character to me anymore, it's a character who enjoys watching dogs do that to women and who's done it repeatedly apparently. There is a difference in tone and I doubt that the story can actually deal with it.
Before I get into this, could someone let me know if it's a psychosexual manipulative dependent sort of taming, or the FL is an adult grooming ml sort of taming....many such cases.
Yesss, I would like to know too because every time I see a manhwa/webtoon with taming in it I expect two grown adults getting it on with some psychological power play but instead it’s actually some gross ass woman grooming a kid
ML seems like a normal dude chapter one but that’s only because it’s at a point in the future when he has to go to war leaving fl behind at home. I read up to ch 5 and ml seems seriously abused to the point that he does not have the mental state of an adult so yep, it’s giving grooming. The ml has adult body but acts like a kid probably because of the abuse. Fl is forced to marry him but ew why even is this the story. Manhwas/webtoons with taming are always so sus geez
No
Uuuuuuuuughhhhhhh. Thank you for letting me know
Yall clearly dont know shit about being groomed/grooming LMFAO
I wouldn't say she's "grooming" him because aside from letting him drink her blood and her feeling embarrassed by it, and him being a grown man with interest in a woman's body -- she does not try to coerce him into anything sexual. in fact she stops him each time he crosses a line.
His mental capacity isn't all there because he was abused heavily but I have a feeling that also has something to do with the curse. And while he cannot communicate well he seems to have an understanding of things. He's more like an adult beast than a "child".
She's taking care of him moreso because she sees saving him as saving herself, both past and present. She's smart at playing with the poor cards she's been dealt.
Ikr. In general, grooming would be way more slimy than whatever she did and said.
On a side note, the empress is really nicely done here: she whips the beasty and keeps pets around; she is someone who deathly fears losing control over what is hers (she said the new crown princess might take her position).
When she and the FL met, she didn't even try to humiliate, embarrass or manipulate the FL (her own thoughts were disturbing enough to make the FL faint)
My point is this is what a real villainess with ultimate power looks like: would do anything to keep what they stole but still fear the day when they lose everything more than their own deaths
I'm not saying I pardon not support the empress but damn does she have an actual personality (I just appreciate nicely done characters no matter how "bad" they are)
