I'm at chapter 3... I feel really bad for Shizuno. She got such shit fucking guys and a bad experience with sex before. Just because the guy said he loved her she was naive but she's young so she let them hurt her. I'm so sad she had to go through that and I'm glad she finally met a nice guy even though he's obviously inexperienced with both sex and relationships. I felt she was using sex as a way of self harm for not feeling enough for her partners she let them do whatever because they "love" her even if she didn't like it or want it but she had to punish herself and give herself because she felt she had to be of some value/give something back. And since a woman's experience with objectification and sexualization starts literally when you start developing sex characteristics (as young as like 9) you get conditioned and I can relate so hard to her as a person who developed breast and curves the first in my environment like school and youngest in the family :(
I'm confused so I've only read chapter one and I don't think that was SA? Unless you consider her rubbing up against him before he pinned her also SA. She started saying suggestive things which lead to tension growing. He told her to tell him to stop the interaction. She didn't say outright no but fat chance (like no she wasn't stopping him, probably because she has a competitive spirit) and she was thinking to herself why wasn't she stopping him? Why did it feel good and why was she letting him keep doing it? Not that she hated it. And understandably she panicked about going all the way cause HELL NO YOU'RE IN A PUBLIC SPACE? But she punched his ahh out of panic and knocked him out. From that alone I think it's obvious she could have said no or stopped him at any moment. It's not like he coerced or intimidated her into doing it. I feel like the words SA are being thrown around too lightly. Though I'd be happy if someone else let me know their perspective on the situation as to why it is SA in your interpretation :) I'm not above learning. (I'm a CSA victim so maybe I have a very linear definition of SA in my mind?)
For me personally I'd say it is kind of SA since the grounds for it means any unwarranted sexual behavior and or actions. And she clearly came onto him (even if was done in a teasing way) despite him being uncomfortable and telling her to stop. Same goes for him, although his was more severe as he actually stripped her and touched her bare. And as for Shizuno not telling him no during the part where he pinned her down, I'd say it's mostly due to her past. Especially since victims who went through SA often have difficulties reinforcing or even creating boundaries in the first place (source: https://www.wcsap.org/help/about-sexual-assault/effects-sexual-assault#:~:text=Boundaries,to%20create%20and%20reinforce%20them.) So I think her not saying no was more because she doesn't know how to or the fact that she even can in the first place. SA doesn't just mean touching, if there's unwarranted sexual behavior or action, and the person doesn't stop it's harassment and/or SA.
But I guess, I kinda get where you're getting it from since if she didn't say no how would he know not to (which, I don't exactly agree with because if there's no clear agreement to engaging in such intimate acts, then personally I wouldn't act on it even without a clear "no" cause like boundaries are important). So I guess it's more on harassment. Public indecency for both since they were at a ktv bar type.
Also, sorry to hear what happened to you man. I hope wherever you are that you are safe, healthy, and happy.
Wow thank you this was really informative! I guess I have a very rigid definition in my mind about what sa is for me it always just sort of was intimidation or coercion or an incapacitated person being touched without their consent. But I see it really just varies case by case ^^ and now that I think about it yeah because of her past maybe she just has a weird relationship regarding physical touch and sex. Some people end up very hypersexual and use it as a for of self harm too because of trauma now that I think it thoroughly (I'm along this side effect of trauma bcs of my csa). And yeah it seems that the ML doesn't have much experience with sex at all so maybe he wasn't aware about how consent needs to be explicit (dubious consent is a thing that happens all the time though but again case by case and how the parties feel after the interaction) so I think it was an overall mess that first chapter...
It was okay! I don't think I'd revisit or reread but it's a good read :) the smut is nice especially when it's uncensored yippee glad they have a happy ending
